Dearest Avinash,
greetings and salutations!

Welcome to IBASI Healing Ministries! We have already discussed a little about your needs elsewhere and I would be happy to accept you as my student and future disciple. Please go to 'Registration Form' on the top left tab and fill out this form to sign up for free One-to-One mentoring through either Chakra_Ascension study group in yahoo (click entrance above ), or here in the IBASI Message Board.

To begin, there are several steps you will want to do in order to be successful here:

1. You will receive private email to complete your initiation into being a bramacharya (sadhuka, neophyte, follower, yogi student...) under my Spiritual Preceptorship.

1.a Let me know if you are ready to do #3. Read "What is a worthy student, what is a good disciple", and "I want Shaktipat Now!" in the Archives page. Write here and/or at Chakra_Ascension what your thoughts and feelings were about these articles.

2. Mantra Initiation.

3. There will be study, yogas, contemplation, meditation, counseling, dharsan, guru-seva (selfless service, volunteering for IBASI missionwork) and the usual for working towards self-healing, psycho-spiritual growth and development to self-realization.

3.a. Go to http://www.ibasi.org/archives.html and begin Lesson 1. "What is Satsang". Sign on to Chakra_Ascension as a member and in your own words, explain what you understand the definition and value of Satsang is, and any questions you may have.

3.b. Since English is a second language for you. Obtain a good Hindu-English dictionary. Here is a web search to get you started. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=TSHA,TSHA:2006-07,TSHA:en&q=hindu+english+online+free+dictionary . YOu may also want to purchase a Sanskrit-English dictionary through the IBASI bookstore at www.ibasi.org .

4. Tell me how you meditate (details), how often and why you think meditation is important. You may respond here and/or at Chakra_Ascension.

Also, Avinash, please let me know in the Registration form, if you will tuition-based, private mentorship or free public mentorship.

You have 2 weeks to complete the above assignments, by February 16th, 2008. Contact me here if you experience any difficulties.

Again, it is with great happiness that I welcome you home to my online 'mandir' and 'guru-siddhapith' and Ascension College. As your studies and skill-building develop with me, you will be going through a 'purification' process to allow you to eventually 'feel the Reiki', so you must have the right intentions and approach to begin with.

Blessings

Om Namah Shivaya,

Dearest LumiDevi ~ regarding your very good question about 'the surrendering part'. Surrendering to Divine Will is not about abandoning common sense, self-effort, the will to live, or not making good decisions with rational self interest vs the common good.

Indeed, I feel for your confusion about this idea of 'surrender' vs survival and flourishing in a very difficult world. Our larger group of students and visitors most likely join us in asking 'surrender to who, what and why?'. In most cultures, surrender is a synonym for defeat, failure and hopelessness. Why then, we ask ourselves, is this certain special kind of surrender is mandatory for any spiritual development towards salvation of the soul and personal self-realization?

I will give you some guidance here, but it will be short and to the point, since this is a general message board for IBASI Students but mostly for non-tuition and non-enrolled visitors to IBASI who are not in deep study and yoga practice under my direct and close spiritual preceptorship.

You say you have received Shaktipat? Make sure you know this for a fact by having it verified by your own spiritual preceptor/gurudev. Surrender is different for those who have received Shaktipat Diksha vs those who have not and still are aspiring to this greatest and most rare gift of Grace.

For those who have received Shaktipat, the Grace Bestowing power transmitted from God into themselves, thus awakening the Divine Spark Within being the Holy Spirit/ Shri Shakti Kundalini and thus being Born Again, etc...'surrender' basically means the yoga of identification with the divine grace within, i.e. the ego gradually re-identifies itself away from the small inidividual self to the Universal Self. Take note that the Ego is not killed or destroyed - the job of surrendering the Ego is re-identification, or re-cognition of True Self. For those lucky, blessed ones who have received Shaktipat and, under the close supervision of their gurudev/ spiritual preceptor, have kept the flame alive and protected/supported, self-effort is largely replaced with effortless and spontaneous yogic/ mystical experiences and actions, etc. Your job is to give permission for your Mind to accept what is happening spontaneously and involuntarily in your body, and simply let it happen. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE IS IT APPROPRIATE TO STOP OR BLOCK THE ACTIVITY OF THE KUNDALINI AND ITS MANY MANIFESTATIONS IN YOUR MIND, BODY & SOUL; BOTH WITHIN YOUR LIFE AND WITHIN THE ENVIRONMENT AND LIFE AROUND YOU, (WORK, SCHOOL, FAMILY, ETC). If the Kundalini Shakti moves you, eg, while you are driving, stop the car and allow this soul healing and restoration to perfect divinity happen. This is what 'surrender' means AFTER RECEIVING SHAKTIPAT, (aka inner dormant divinity is permanently awakened - transforming you and everything in your life as it does its work on you). This process can be very physically challenging and intense, or may hardly be perceived. It is different for everyone and depends on your cumulative karmic account with God as to how salvation plays out in your life.

If you are still a seeker and have NOT received the awakening of the divine withing, aka Shaktipat, True Baptism or being Born Again, then 'surrender' means something different. Understood? In this case, surrender still means cleaning out your dirty karma and sanskaras out of your mind-body-spirit - preparation for Shaktipat (which happens only by the Will of God and no mortal). For Christians, this means following the 10 Commandments and embibing the spiritual lessons of the Holy Bible. For Hindus and its denominations like Buddhists, Jains, Shaivites, Vedantans, etc it means embibing the yogas of the Yamas and Niyamas, which are pretty much the same as the 10 Commandments of the Holy Bible. Surrender for you all means working on cleaning out your body enough to be clean and refined enough to carry pure divine spirit.

Again, I must remind you that just because one may want Shaktipat and does the self-effort of the yogas mentioned above, does not mean that God will automatically grant you ever-lasting Salvation of your Soul. Surrendering as outlined above merely means you are preparing yourself by purification work and throwing yourself on the mercy of Our Lord - there are no guarantees but it helps to be prepared and try to win the favor of Our Lord in all the ways the world's saints have instructed us all through their own lives.

Om Namah Shivaya
