This is a philosophical, society-at-large issue. We look to philosophers, prophets, saints and seers for direction, as we believe, that they somehow have a connection with the divine, and that this gives Truth to their voices. Do we, as a people, a civilization, believe those 'religious fathers' who created the Christian dogma of 'Original Sin', where all humans are born evil? Perhaps we believe, instead, in Jean-Jacques Rousseaus' 18th century concept of 'Innate Goodness', or the English philosopher, John Lockes' 'Tabla Rasa', i.e., that people are born as 'blank slates' and it is the people around a person that create that person? Buddha said to harm no living creature. What about Jesus Christ, when he said, in a manner of words, that dare he/she who cast the first stone, claim him/herself to be innocent, (when indeed, no one who would cast a stone would be innocent themselves). These are a list of saints, seers, prophets and philosophers. Who is correct? Who is not? Will an entire society ever believe, as a group, any of these positions at the same time? Does 'majority' rule? Is the 'majority' always 'right'? This is a dangerous argument when the blind are leading the blind. There is a larger perspective that sees all these views. There is a way to make an intelligent, compassionate comment, and choice, on whether a group of people shall believe in the Lethal Injection, or not, or on other issue, for that matter. I invite you to post your comments and questions here, if you are interested in that 'larger perspective'. Respects, Rev. Dr. Devi Nostrum Devi Nostrumananda
