For those of you who are Siddha Yoga or ex-followers..this string of conversation may be interesting! The discussion is about a 'new guru', Sally Kempton, formerly known as Swami Durgananda of the Siddha Yoga organization headed by Swami Chidvilasananda (Gurumayi). It bring up several interesting questions and observations about 'post-enlightenment' daily life and a rare glimpse of what a newly self-realized person or new Guru goes through in order to continue their lives and fulfill their mission. Of note...the difficult 'weaning' process from the externalized Guru, and the modern day necessity of charging money for monastic/ministerial services. I have yet to fathom why a teacher of any kind should work and earn money and give it away to students for their free education from that very same teacher. Does that make sense to anyone?? Devi ma *********************** Good Morning, yes..it's always good to benchmark, lol. So, should I assume you are a disciple of Sally Kempton, aka Shaktipat Master/Guru? Hmm, lol.? I've been offering the One-to-One Mentoring program through www.ibasi.org for several years now. The only thing holding me back from major expansion with writing the books, media publishing, website bookstore and other program development is lack of capital. Thats what my contractor work is for..fundraising. For now I'm more like the wondering monk, lol, all the missionwork is on the road, on the web and with distance students. As to why my followers dont raise all the funds for me? I joined the group & ascended so quickly (and in mostly solitude) that there was no pattern of rising through the ranks and siphening off followers from an already established organization as Bill and Sally and others had done, (decades vs 3-4 yrs), so it's all taking much slower having to start from scratch, as it should be, in this case. It's good to see Sally be coming into her own after so long a 'grace period' weaning off from Gurumayi. I am so pleased, and all I can say is 'it's about time'! When she first came to visit right after breaking away, at the Monterey Siddha Yoga Center to do a meditation course, I told her quite assuredly that now she can openly do shaktipat and be a 'guru' herself and she was in complete denial! Of course, she isn't the first one to deny being a guru...Chopra is one also. All 3 of us and many more continue on as shaktipat master teachers, staying true to the tantras. The enjoyment of what life has to offer is embraced with this lineage/tradition, not shunned, so to me its hysterical to watch the westernized Guru deny that word for the sake of politics, marketing, and general human ignorance,...lol. Im afraid the 60's-70's stereotype has really poisoned the well here for a while. Oh well, it's all very interesting...watching this psycho-spiritual evolution. I thought this would interest you since you knew about Sally. In the last year, several of you have told me that you would like to be part of an ongoing program of inner transformative practice and study. As I've contemplated this, and discussed it with some of you, I've become increasingly excited about the prospect of working with a small group over a period of time. Now, we've come up with a plan. Here's the vision: A group of 16 to 25 committed practitioners will meet (in person and via teleconference) regularly throughout the year for deep practice, study, and discussion. Our goal is to become genuinely intimate with the Self, the being-awareness-love that is the heart of all experience, and to allow that Presence to permeate our moment to moment lives. What we are aiming for, in fact, is a form of practical enlightenment, a truly lived experience of Spirit in action. Our curriculum will include in-depth study of the Spanda Karikas, a powerful and innately transformative text of the tantric tradition. We'll meditate often, work with contemplative practice, engage in body-yoga and movement, psychologically oriented energy work, and periods of silence. ....
